Anyone can make a difference

Last week a family with 5 young children came into the park handing out bottles of water. The parents gave the bottles to the children to distribute. My friend BK said "Those parents are teaching them right." Then yesterday 5 college age students in town for the football game chose to make a difference. After walking through the park they went to CVS across the street, picked up a case of water and 2 boxes of Little Debbie snacks to hand out. I was impressed that they chose to take time and money out of their trip to make a difference when they could have easily just kept on walking.
I was really inspired by a church in Macon who takes a lot of effort to make a difference. Tonight I asked Lawrence how his day had been. He'd had a good day he said. "What'd you do today?" I asked. He said "I went to church." I asked him where he went to church. When he said he went to a church in Macon, Ga. I was really surprised, I thought there must be a Macon rd. near by or something! He proceeded to tell me that a van comes by a local shelter every Sunday and picks up a group. They drive them all the way to South Ga. to take them to church. "They do a real nice Bible study with us too." he said. And after church they take the group to Golden Coral before driving them back to Atl. I wish I could personally thank whoever takes the hours out of their Sunday to drive all this way. I couldn't believe it. People think that me hanging out with a bunch of friends, learning to play chess is impressive when for me it's easy, fun and convenient. These guys sacrifice time and money every Sunday! I hope this story causes you to think outside of your serving box; to look beyond what you think is impossible. If I were on the missions board at a church in Macon and someone said to me they wanted to reach the homeless in Atl I'd tell them there are other people to do that, it's not possible for our church. But this church thought outside the box and Lawrence is a changed man because of it.
