Kindness

Kindness is often an overflow of happiness wouldn't you agree? Most of the time our kindness is dependent on our circumstances. Think about the person you yelled at on the road because you were late or the cashier you responded to with frustration because you were tired or having a bad day. So often I expect the same from people on the street and often I am surprised. I really noticed this tonight while serving hot chocolate with my Lazarus team. We were serving outside after dark and our team of 4 were underdressed and freezing! We were running in place, complaining a little and trying really hard to focus on the reason we were there-to spread love and warmth. Again and again I was caught off guard when someone receiving a cup said "THANK YOU!" with a smile or a heart felt "God bless you." I expected complaining and frustration about their situation or for them to act like we were crazy to be out there of our own choosing. Instead, they gave us encouragement, love and appreciation. The next time you are tempted to take out your frustration on someone else, remember they deserve your love. Don't let your actions be an overflow of your situation but an overflow of your heart.
